Art Direction + Animation + Illustration
I was commissioned by ShowBT Entertainment to lead the animation for the award-winning P-pop group SB19. I collaborated closely with the group members to produce a Japanese-inspired anime for their single “Hanggang sa Huli” that wasn’t just a music video, but a complex piece of visual storytelling.

The vision was to create a hand-drawn, cinematic experience that captured the emotional weight of the song. I built five custom character designs from the ground up, each one a stylized reflection of a group member. Beyond the aesthetics, I was responsible for the entire structural blueprint of the video—developing the storyboards and animatics that would serve as the emotional map for the final animation.

The hardest part was the story. We had five characters, five different timelines, and a ton of hidden meanings woven into every scenes. We intentionally avoided “spelling it out” for the viewers. We wanted it to be the kind of video you have to watch three or four times to finally see how everyone is actually connected at the end. It was a big risk to keep it that subtle, but seeing the fans piece it together in the comments made it worth it.

The response was honestly overwhelming. It hit 9 million views, but what was cooler to see were the thousands of comments from fans digging into the theories behind the plot. It proved that we didn’t need to over-explain everything; the audience was more than willing to do the work to connect the dots themselves.
